BURT DeROY RILEY

Burt DeRoy Riley died at his home in Binghamton Monday night, January 5, aged 50 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. DeRoy Riley of this village and was born in Coventry. He was a student of Oxford Academy and on leaving school taught school for a time and then secured a position as night watchman at the Borden plant and employed his periods of rest in studying law. After being admitted to the bar he practiced for a time in this village and then opened an office in Syracuse. He returned to this place from Syracuse and practiced his profession here. For the past few years he has been engaged in the sale of law books.
He is survived by his father, his wife and three daughters, Miss Edna Mae Riley, Mrs. George Hart and Mrs. Fred Jack, all of Binghamton and a sister, Mrs. L. L. Kirkland of Bainbridge.
The funeral service at the undertaking rooms of George H. Shoulder, Binghamton, on Wednesday afternoon was conducted by Rev. R. A. Gates.
