MICHAEL FLANAGAN

An Esteemed and Prominent Oxford Resident Whom Death Has Claimed

Norwich, April 15.-At his home in Oxford Monday morning after an illness of several weeks, occurred the death of Michael Flanagan, aged 80 years.

Mr. Flanagan was well known as a staunch and steadfast Republican and, although he never sought or held public office, for many years he had been prominent in politics in his town and wielded a strong influence in all affairs for the good of his party.

In November, 1854, he married Mary A. McCune and had he lived a few months longer would have enjoyed 50 years of happy married life.  Mrs. Flanagan, although over 70 years of age, is still in fair health.

Besides his widow deceased leaves 11 children, four sons and seven daughters, ex-Sheriff of Chenango County James J. Flanagan and Edward Flanagan of Norwich; John Flanagan, of Albany; William Flanagan, of Binghamton; Mrs. John E. McCormack and Mrs. Morris McNamara, of Albany; Mrs. Albert Williams and Miss Margaret Flanagan, of London, Eng.; Mrs. Sullivan, of Buffalo, and Mrs. James E. Dunne, of Oxford.

His funeral was largely attended from St. Joseph's Church, Oxford, Wednesday morning.
