EAST McDONOUGH
East McDonough, May 25.- Jeremiah Calvert died Wednesday night, May 19, from heart disease. He had been in poor health for some time but was out the day before his death. Mr. Calvert was 68 years old and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He served during the Civil War in Co. A., 114th Regiment, going out as a volunteer when he was comparatively more than a boy. He partially lost his voice from the exposures of his life in camp, and never regained his health after his return from the army.
He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Amelia Morehouse of Cortland, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Eva Smith of Union Valley. The funeral was very largely attended Saturday, Rev. W. W. Watrous of McDonough officiating. Burial was at McDonough in the village cemetery.
Several old veterans were present. Mr. Calvert was a warm-hearted man and will be sincerely missed from the neighborhood. Mrs. Morehouse and Mrs. Smith will remain with Mrs. Calvert for a while.
