ALBERT E. BROWN DEAD

Well Known McDonough Merchant Died in Brooklyn

   McDonough, Feb 10. - Albert E. Brown, who has been in failing health for some time, died February 4th at the home of his son, Merton Brown, in Brooklyn at the age of 62 years.  His remains were brought here for burial on Monday.  Mr. Brown had been in the mercantile business in this place for many years and was held in esteem by the townpeople.

   Mrs. Brown, who was Eva Dibble of East Smithville, died about two years ago.  Their surviving sons are Prof. Merton Brown of Brooklyn and Prof. Lynn Brown of the Cortland Normal faculty, at present taking a course in Columbia College, New York City.

   Mr. Brown's boyhood days were spent in East Smithville, where he belonged to the Smithville Center Literary Club of young men, many of who still survive and each year hold a reunion at the church in that place.  Several of the old members were present at the funeral, which was held at the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Harry Wheeler, the sermon being preached by Rev. E. R. D. Briggs of Portlandville, a boyhood friend of Mr. Brown and a member of the Literary society.

   Those present at the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. James Lull of Texas Valley, Mrs. David Edgerton, Mr. and Mrs. George Seeley of Smithville, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Tucker of North Pharsalia, Isaac Boice, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dibble and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dibble of Oxford.
