Thomas Tansey Falls Under Wheels of Moving Train He Tried to Catch

Thomas Tansey, Jr., of Oxford was instantly killed yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock at Utica while attempting to board train No. 816 on the Utica division of the Lackawanna as it pulled out of the Utica passenger station.  The last coach passed directly over the upper portion of his body and head.

Tansey, it appears, arrived in Utica some time during the day from Rochester, where he had been spending several weeks.  He was on his way to Oxford.  He did not attempt to board the train until it was leaving the station when he ran and caught the front end of the rear coach.  Either he missed his footing or his grasp on the handle of the coach, for he slipped and fell directly under the wheels of the then rapidly moving train.

Tansy is survived by his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Thomas Tansey, and by several brothers and sisters, all of Oxford.
