(Dec. 24, 1944)

Ward V. Miller, aged 79 years, a former resident of Oxford, died at his home in Greene, Sunday morning, December 24, following a shock he suffered the previous Friday.  He was born April 17, 1865, in Oxford.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller were residents of this village for several years, where Mr. Miller conducted a grocery store.  He purchased the grocery business in the Harrington Block of W. A. C. Wyckoff.  He sold the business to Lennox and Simmonson of Norwich about 1924.  They moved to Greene shortly after.  Mr. Miller married Miss Myrtle Harrington of Page Brook.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Miller, one son, George Miller, of Oxford; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Bly of Greene; four granddaughters, Mrs. Earl Nearing of South New Berlin, Agnes Miller of Oxford; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Donald Woodworth and Miss Jeannette Baldwin of Binghamton.  A daughter, Mrs. Edna Baldwin died several years ago.

The funeral was held from the Harry R. Rogers Funeral Home in Greene, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, funeral arrangements under the direction of F. W. Seymour and Son.  Rev. Wm. A. Braithwaite, rector of Zion Episcopal church, officiated.  Burial was made in Sylvan Lawn cemetery.
