Mrs. William T. Kelsey

Former Resident of Greene and Well Known in Oxford, Dies Wednesday Morning

Mrs. William T. Kelsey died at her home on Albany street in this village early Wednesday morning, January 11, 1922.

Mrs. Kelsey was the daughter of Peter G. and Caroline Jacobs and was born in New York February 10, 1854.  She attended school at Oxford Academy and later taught in the district school and in Afton Union School.

Finally acting upon her determination to become a nurse, she took a course of training in Belleview Hospital and on graduating, followed the profession until April 10, 1887 when she was united in marriage to William T. Kelsey of Greene.  Mr and Mrs. Kelsey made their home in that village until Mr. Kelsey's death which occurred in October 1912 when she came to this village where she has since resided.

Mrs. Kelsey was a consistent member of the Baptist church of this village and active in its work until compelled to relinquish it by reason of declining health.  She has been a sufferer for many weeks bearing her afflictions with Christian faith and fortitude.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Asa P. Hyde of Binghamton and Miss Harriet C. Jacobs of this village and two step-children, Mrs. Clarence Dillenbeck of German and George D. Kelsey of Valley City, North Dakota.

A private funeral will be held from her home this Friday morning at 11 o'clock.  Burial will be made in Greene.
