Mrs. Walker Porter

Alice Cornelia Brazee, wife of Walker Porter, died at Faxton Hospital, Utica, at about three o'clock Monday afternoon.  She went to Utica the Monday previous and the following day underwent an operation, performed by Dr. Glass, assisted by Dr. Hitchcock of this village.

Mrs. Porter rallied and apparently was gaining in strength till Monday noon, when she had a sinking spell and became unconscious.  Mr. Ported was notified but did not reach Utica until after the death of his wife.  F. W. Seymour went to Utica Tuesday and brought the remains to Oxford.

Mrs. Porter was the eldest daughter of the late Francis W. and Mary Aldrich Brazee.  She was born Feb. 9, 1849, at Norwich we believe, or at least lived there when a very young child.  After several years her parents moved to Oxford and resided here for a few years and then returned to Norwich.  She married Mr. Porter Jan 1, 1873, and since then had been a resident of this town.  Quiet and unassuming, she loved her home and was seldom absent from it.

Surviving Mrs. Porter, beside her husband, are a sister and a brother, Mrs. George R. Bradley of Oxford and Francis A. Brazee of Norwich.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, Dr. Willcox of the Congregational Church officiating.
