Announce Engagement

   Mr. and Mrs. David Ford gave a party Saturday evening, December 22, 1923, in honor of their niece, Miss Alice Hitt.  the evening was spent in playing games until 10 o'clock, when the guests were called to the dining room, which was prettily decorated in red and green.  A small Christmas tree stood in the center of the table where covers were laid for twelve.  While guests were busy with their luncheon, Santa Claus entered with a note announcing the engagement of Miss Alice to Deforest Brewer of Chenango Forks.

   Those present were the Misses Mary Gross, Georgia Lewis Esther Stanford, Alice Tydings, Geraldine Palmer, Elizabeth Gray, Elizabeth Cohoon, Mrs. Ruth Bramen, Bertha Hayes, Mrs. Linn Geer of Earlville and Mrs. Lester Brewer of Chenango Forks.



WEDDINGS

Brewer-Hitt

   The marriage of Miss Alice Hitt to Deforest L. Brewer of Greene occurred at eight-thirty o'clock Saturday evening, June 14, 1924, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Linn S. Geer, on Fayette street, Earlville.

   The home was prettily decorated with ferns, iris, lily of the valley and white lilacs, and the ceremony was performed under an arch of white lilacs by the Rev. H. J. Carey of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place.

   The bride wore a gown of powdered blue Georgette crepe trimmed with Val lace and with hat to match.  She wore a corsage bouquet of pink tea roses.  The attending couple were Mr. and Mrs. Theodore F. Mellon of Galena.

   A delicious wedding supper was served following the ceremony, the guests being seated at a table decorated in pink and white.  Pink candles furnished the light.  The center piece was lilies of the valley and narcissus.

   The bride is a graduate of the Greene high school, class of '21, and of the Greene training class.  She has been teaching in Greene for the past year.  During her frequent visits at the home of her mother she made many Earlville friends who will extend heartiest good wishes.
