William Sage

   William H. Sage, a well known resident of this city, died at his home, 4 Division Street, Tuesday noon, after several weeks' illness.  Funeral services were held in his home Thursday at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Gerald Watkins of the First Baptist church officiating.  Burial was in South New Berlin.  William H. Sage was born in the town of New Berlin, April 20, 1840.  He was one of nine children born to Daniel and Eliza Burton Sage and was the last surviving member of his family.

   On December 17, 1860, Mr. Sage was united in marriage to Sarah E. Thornton, whose death occurred in 1910.  About two years later he married Mrs. Sophia Wicks and came to the home in Division street where he has since resided.  Mrs. Sage died in July, 1918.  Until the death of his first wife, Mr. Sage was an active, prosperous farmer in the Otsego valley.  Since coming to Norwich he had lived a life of retirement.  His surviving relatives are nephews and nieces, among whom are Mrs. Charles White, Mrs. Charles Littlefair and George E. Sage of this city.
