Mrs. Linda Smith Whitmore
News has been received of the passing away at the Crouse-Irving hospital Syracuse, July 11, of Mrs. Linda Smith Whitmore, a former Guilford young lady. Death was caused from burns by oil explosion which happened sometime ago. The subject of this brief memoir was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Smith and began her earthly pilgrimage in the town of Oxford, September 2, 1899 coming to Guilford when a young woman. On December 10, 1919 at Norwich she became the wife of Leon Whitmore and to them were born three children.
Deceased is survived by her husband, one son, Donald, two daughters Eleanor, and Phyliss, who was born in March; three sisters Erma Smith of Binghamton, Emma Smith of Syracuse, Mrs. Myrtle Cole of Afton; three brothers, Ralph of Ilion, Ervin of Afton, Clifford of South New Berlin, a grandmother, Mrs. Clarinda Sturges and several near relatives. Funeral services took place Monday.
