Sudden Death of Well Known and Loved Lady in Florida. Brought Home for Burial
Mrs. Elizabeth E. Lee, widow of the late Dwight M. Lee, died in Orlando, Fla., Friday, Sept. 26, aged 83 years.
Mrs. Lee had spent the most of the summer at her old home on Washington park and enjoyed very good health for one of her advanced years. She looked forward to the winter in Florida with anticipations of a pleasant time. She made the trip there without much fatigue but a few days before her death was taken with what appeared to be acute indigestion. All her children were with her during her sickness.
Mrs. Lee was the daughter of John R. and Susan Hough Gleason and was born in the town of Preston on February 27, 1841.
She was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Musicvale, Conn. She taught music in Greene.
In 1866 she was united in marriage with Dwight M. Lee, M. D. Mr. and Mrs. Lee began their married life at Smithville Flats but in 1867 they removed to this village where Mr. Lee continued his practice until his death in 1895. After her husband's death she continued to make her home on Washington park until of late when she has passed most of the winters in Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Miss Zada, two sons, Charles D., and Walter C., all residing in Orlando, Fla., and two brothers, Clark H. Gleason of Grand Rapids, Mich., and D. A. Gleason of Detroit, Mich.
The body of Mrs. Lee was brought here for burial, arriving on Tuesday morning. Service was held in the Congregational chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. John M. Chambers. Burial was made in Riverview.
