Death of Mrs. George W. Lewis After a Long Illness
Mrs. George W. Lewis died at her home on State street at 12:30 o'clock this morning aged 60 years. Death was due to Bright's disease coupled with heart trouble and followed a long illness.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Smithville, Nov. 11, 1844. He maiden name was Olive A. Brooks and she was a daughter of Horace and Sally Hackett Brooks. During her childhood her parents removed to Oxford which has since been her home.
She was married to Mr. Lewis, June 27, 1861. Mrs. Lewis was a devoted wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor and was particularly kind and helpful in cases of sickness. She is survived by her husband, by one son, Everett C. Lewis; a daughter, Mrs. George Holdridge; a brother James Brooks; and a sister, Mrs. Delia Tracy, all of Oxford.
The funeral will be held from the house Sunday at 2:30 p. m. Rev. C. D. Broughton officiating.
