ROSS BLIVEN
(MAR. 27, 1905)

A Well-Known Resident of McDonough, Recently Deceased

Ross Bliven, the subject of this notice, was born in McDonough on the 24th day of May, 1836, and died on the 27th day of March, 1905, aged 68 years, leaving two brothers, Robert and Horace Bliven, both of Hastings, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Henry Loomis of Smithville, besides a widow and one son.

Mr. Bliven was stricken down with malignant cancer some months ago, and from the first the nature of the disease gave his loved ones no assurance of his recovery.  Our dear friend and neighbor passed through the trying ordeal with a sweet Christian spirit of patience, which seemed remarkable to his many friends.  Like a hero he met his fate.  Mr. Bliven was a good citizen, greatly loved by his neighbors for his kindness of heart, and will be greatly missed by those who have enjoyed his pleasant associations in the years gone by.  His funeral was largely attended and deep sorrow was manifested, with tokens of love and respect usual to such occasions.  The following life long friends acted as his bearers: George Nightingale, R. L. Stewart, J. G. Brown, E. A. Brown, Bruce Sanford, E. A. Gault.
