A Double Wedding
A double wedding took place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 3:00 p. m., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bunnell at East Berkshire, when their daughter, Miss Nellie Bunnell, became the bride of Donald York of East Berkshire, and Miss Hattie Beebe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beebe, was married to William MacDougal of Cortland. Miss Bunnell has been employed of late as a nurse at the Cortland hospital and Miss Beebe at the VerNooy sanitarium at Cortland.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. F. E. Richards of Tioga, in the presence of 38 relatives and friends. Mrs. Henry Clark was the Matron of Honor. The rooms were decorated in blue and gold, with a profusion of golden glow. Miss Bunnell wore a gown of lace over silk and Miss Beebe wore blue taffeta.
The newlyweds are on a motor trip to Ludlow, Mass., accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beebe, and are expected to return Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. York will for the present live on the Bunnell farm, and Mr. and Mrs. MacDougal in Cortland, where the groom is employed in the Wickwire plant.
A wedding luncheon was served after the ceremonies and a peculiar feature was that the tables were decorated by two wedding cakes and also two anniversary and two birthday cakes. The occasion was the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark and also of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clark. It was also the birthday of Mrs. Henry Clark, who is a sister of the bride, Mrs. York, and also that of the groom, Mr. McDougal.
NOTE: THE SPELLING OF MacDOUGAL AND McDOUGAL IS AS IT APPEARS IN THE ARTICLE.
