Sarah M. Whitecomb
On Wednesday evening, June 15, another aged resident of Guilford, Mrs. Sarah M. Whitecomb, passed into the shadows beyond, at the advanced age of 80 years; leaving behind a husband, Cornelius A. Whitecomb, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Deceased has been in very poor health for some time, hence the call of the Great Reaper did not come unexpected.
She was the daughter of Bradford and Sally Harrington Havens, and was born in the town of Oxford, October 3, 1846.
On Saturday afternoon the funeral services were held at the late home at one o'clock, Rev. B. A. Gates, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, officiating.
Burial was made in the family plot in Oxford cemetery. To those in bereavement sincere sympathy is extended. Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Whitcomb, of Illion; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Whitcomb, Mrs. June Miller, and daughters, Nellie and Grace, of New York Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Leland Freer, Mrs. Clarence Freer, and daughter, Mrs. Paul Tillotson, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Woodland, of Gilbertsville.
